Character: Heptahydrate: It’s blue-green crystals or granules, odorless with astringency. In dry air, it’s efflorescent. In moist air, it oxidizes readily to form a brown-yellow, basic ferric sulfate. It’s soluble in water, insoluble in ethanol.
Dried: It’s gray-white to beige powder. with astringency. It is mainly composed of FeSO4·H2O and contains a few of FeSO4·4H2O.It’s slowly soluble in cold water (26.6 g / 100 ml, 20 ℃), It will be dissolved quickly when heating. It’s insoluble in ethanol. Almost insoluble in 50% sulfuric acid.
